Thanks for reading with us. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are the agreement between you and Plot Spot (“Plot Spot”, “we”, “us” or “our”) for your use of read.8billiontrees.com, together with its stories, chapters, newsletter and emails (the “Site”).

By visiting or using the Site, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

Using the Site

You may read the Site for free, without an account. You agree to use it only for lawful purposes and in line with these Terms.

The Site is intended for adult readers. If you are under the age of majority where you live, please use the Site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. The Site is not directed to children under 13.

We may add, change, pause or remove any story, chapter or feature at any time. We do not promise that a particular story will be completed, updated on a set schedule, or remain available.

Our stories are fiction

The stories, novels, serials and chapters published on the Site are works of fiction. Names, characters, places, businesses and events are the products of the writers’ imagination or are used fictitiously. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or to actual events is purely coincidental.

Nothing on the Site is professional advice of any kind, including legal, medical, financial or psychological advice.

Who owns the stories

All stories, chapter text, titles, cover art, illustrations, logos and page design on the Site belong to Plot Spot or to its writers and licensors. They are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

We give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable permission to read the Site for your own enjoyment. This permission does not cover any commercial use.

Sharing is welcome. You may share links to any page on the Site, by message, email or social media.

Copying is not. Without our written permission, you may not copy, reproduce, republish, sell, translate, record, adapt or distribute any story, or any part of one, in any form. Posting the text of a chapter somewhere else, even with credit, is not allowed.

We keep all rights not expressly granted to you in these Terms.

Acceptable use

While using the Site, you agree not to:

  • scrape, harvest or download content using bots, crawlers or other automated means, except for search engines that respect our robots.txt file;
  • use any content from the Site to train, test or prompt artificial intelligence or machine learning systems, or to build a dataset;
  • remove or change any copyright notice, author credit or other notice;
  • frame or mirror the Site, or present our stories as your own;
  • try to gain unauthorized access to the Site or its systems, introduce malware, or disrupt the Site’s operation or its ads;
  • impersonate any person or misrepresent a connection with Plot Spot; or
  • use the Site to harass, harm or defraud anyone, or in any way that breaks the law.

We may limit or block access for anyone we believe has broken these Terms.

Messages you send us

If you contact us or send feedback, you confirm that what you send is yours to share and does not break any law or anyone else’s rights. We may use feedback and suggestions to improve the Site without owing you payment or credit. We are not obligated to reply to, keep confidential, or act on any message, idea or suggestion.

Third-party links and ads

The Site may display ads from advertising partners and may contain links to websites run by others. We do not control those advertisers or websites and are not responsible for their content, products, services or privacy practices. Seeing an ad or link on the Site does not mean we endorse it. Any dealings you have with an advertiser or another website are solely between you and them.

Newsletter

If you sign up for our newsletter, you agree to receive emails from us about new chapters, new stories and related updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. How we handle your email address is explained in our Privacy Policy.

THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT ON IT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PLOT SPOT AND ITS OWNERS, WRITERS, EDITORS, CONTRACTORS AND LICENSORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SITE, WHETHER BASED ON CONTRACT, TORT, NEGLIGENCE OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

BECAUSE THE SITE IS FREE, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SITE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED FIFTY US DOLLARS (US $50).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers or limits on liability. In those places, the limits above apply only to the extent the law allows.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Plot Spot and its owners, writers, editors, contractors and licensors from any claims, losses, liabilities and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising from your misuse of the Site or your breach of these Terms.

Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated as Plot Spot changes. The current version always lives on this page, with its effective date shown above. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted means you accept the revised Terms.

Governing law

United States law, together with the law of the state in which Plot Spot’s operator is located, applies to these Terms, setting aside any conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Site will be handled by the courts with jurisdiction in that state, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

General

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining parts stay in full effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later. These Terms and our Privacy Policy make up the entire agreement between you and Plot Spot about the Site.
